Christmas Games with a Hot Twist

Christmas is a time for many things – food, family, and of course, games. Because how else would you spend the day other than having the whole family squeeze around a Monopoly board or playing charades?

That’s why, this year, we wanted to help out those who are more inclined to add a twist to their festivities.

Hot sauce roulette

This game is as it sounds, grab all the hot sauces that you own – ensure that they range from the mild to the extremely hot – cover up the labels so that you can’t distinguish them from the other. Buy a spinner, gather your friends, and take it in turns spinning to see who will be at the mercy of the hottest sauce. If all of that sounds like too much effort then you can buy the game right here, but if you need a tutorial on how to play the game, then have a look of it in action.

Taste testing

For those who want something a little more refined, then try a simple taste testing game. All you’ll need is your favourite, hottest, and quirkiest hot sauces – and of course, some chips to dip in the sauce, and then take it in turns blindfolding your friends – getting them to guess which sauce they think it is. This game is perfect for those who claim they are experts at hot sauce – they may change their minds after this.

Cook-off

If you don’t necessarily want to blow your head off, then here’s an option for those who are chefs in the kitchen. You could always have a simple cook-off with your friends – with the one rule simply being that you must use a hot sauce in your dish. Afterwards, you can all taste what the other makes, give it a score out of 10, and whoever gets the highest score wins. It’s fun and you won’t need to worry about feeding people, a win-win.

Hot ones

If you’re a fan of hot sauce, you’ll already know the game ‘Hot Ones’ – if you don’t, no worries, let us explain it to you. Hot Ones is a popular video-series on YouTube, hosted by Sean Evans, where he invites celebrities to take the ‘hot seat’, and slowly but surely, try hotter and hotter sauces, until they can’t take it anymore.

The challenge is to see how many you can try before you bow out – and while you probably won’t convince any celebrities to join you and your friends, it’s definitely still a fun one for you all to try this Christmas.

Just make sure you keep that milk on standby. If you’re not familiar with the show, then you can find it here. And if you want to make the game even more official, then you can buy the set of sauces that they use on the show, here.
